The first shipment of tariff-free Scotch whisky will depart the UK, demonstrating how Liverpool City Region is helping shape the future of international trade through cutting-edge digital innovation.
The shipment follows the removal of US tariffs on UK whisky and marks a significant milestone for exporters. It also shines a spotlight on Liverpool City Region’s growing role as a hub for digital trade, logistics innovation and international commerce.
In another world first, the £60,000 shipment has been processed entirely through digital trade systems rather than traditional paper-based documentation, reducing costs, delays and administrative burdens for exporters.
The initiative was arranged by digital trade company LogChain, whose global headquarters are based in Liverpool City Region, bringing together British heritage, technology and exporting ambition.
The project demonstrates how innovations developed and deployed from Liverpool City Region are helping businesses trade more efficiently with international markets while creating new opportunities for growth and investment.
The shipment also highlights Liverpool City Region’s growing reputation as a centre for digital trade innovation and a gateway for exports to North America.
